There is always been a feeling of indulgence when I just let go and put the colors down that feel right. I am currently focusing on happier colors (I think that is used in a detrimental way by some but to me it is a serious compliment) but I always have because I really hate being sad and then there is the reality of you only paint what you paint. We don’t have a ton of leeway. Give me a sunny day, a bright optimistic day and I will be there. All my new abstracts are focused on color and how color can dictate more than we think it can.

This is one of truly favorite pieces. t took a long time to paint and went through so many whole paintings changes that when I see it now I am kind of surprised. You see all the layers in this one and the paint is thick and directly applied. I am not sure about the orbs and what they are but it feels like a chain and maybe it is an escape ladder out of the current state of things. It will set off any space it hangs and can’t be ignored. It is not non committal art. I love it.
