Oil on Panel

This painting is on a 3 inch cradled panel and is sold unframed. The depth of the sides creates no need for a frame and hanging without one is a more minimalist look.

The orange tree I bought last summer provided major inspiration to me over this last winter. I knew it would not survive the cold so hauled it into my fault cozy studio. And that ws when my studio became an Orangerie. I felt like when I opened the door the tree would help me remember that Spring would come but also the orange. The oranges of the tree, while not at all edible, helped me pretend I was in a tropical setting. But it was the light bouncing off the orange orbs that drew me in again and again. And the filtering of light through the leaves. The contrast with that little plant and the ice and snow outside made for many hours of happy painting. I wish I could keep these or at least one of them, but I really can’t keep any of my own art anymore. So I hope someone else sees the magic this little tree made!

There are three of these painted in succession and they glimpse into my studio, too. The warm shaded retro lamp, my books, my chairs and all things in there are designed for my own eyes.
