I almost always gravitate to snow paintings in the winter. I am not surprised because of course I would! It is bright colors on a serene back ground. Like beach paintings. The colors of the people and their clothing are found parading across one unified color and make the whole scene recognizable and for a painter, you establish scale and light. They are abstracted but not wholly. Snow in general is calming but in paint it lends itself to so much tactile expression and brushwork can make the trails. I go back to it again and again.
