Maple Shadow Frame

She is a larger version of the pink skis. I will sometimes apply a bright pink tint on my paintings before I add the oil and I love the way you can pull away the paint to make ski tracks.

This newest series of paintings comes from a recent trip to Colorado but we have had the good luck to be able to take a ski vacation once a year! So all my paintings of skiing are a compilation of those times. As a painter, ski paintings are very similar to me as beach paintings. You are presented these bright colors against a monochromatic background. When I ski I think I am as excited about the bright lights on ski apparel as anything else! These are thickly applies works with the snow as lush and tactile as it seems to me when I am there.
