Tomato's and Citrus Branch
Tomato's and Citrus Branch
Original Oil Painting
16 × 20
Oil on Linen
Maple Shadow Frame
Most all these tomato paintings are from this summer and many from my own two plants I also had an amazing citrus plant that I cut fruit from that was happier in my studio over the winter than in my summer years but the two different orange reds were compelling. For me, as a painter, the reds in a tomato itself are more red than maybe any other thing. I liven apple but it seems opaque and a tomato literally glows from within because of the translucent skin, so to paint they are just unique. But I love the very red tomatoes and orange citrus in these pieces. I also have always loved a glass vessel in a still-life.
