I have a lifetime of admiration for artists who have painted a vessel and made it something to just sit and admire. Morandi was one of the first artists I remember loving and realizing the vessel can be just what it is. Paintings I do like this are just about the paint. And the underpainting and most of all the simplicity. Actually, a better word is calm. It is calming to paint these kinds of paintings and I think they feel that was as art.
