I have had a bit of a love affair with a unique coat, usually vintage but not always. and they have snuck into my paintings. These painted coats are usually my own design but usually spring off of a coat you might find hanging in my overly stocked coat closet.

This coat is almost exactly like one I own, I am happy to tell you and I try to wear it as much as I can.

The older I get as a painter, the more i just paint what makes me lose myself in a painting. The time I spend at work and the joy it brings me has surpassed what the subject matter is, in a way. I can’t say I don’t care about it, but I am braver in painting what pleases me and less sensitive that many people just may not get it!

The two dogs anchor her when she is being blown around by the wind and also I happen to have two small dogs very similar. I think it is pretty unusual to not spot artists things in their work, well I should speak for myself and say in MY work. Whether I like it or not but in the case of coats and dog walking I am indulging myself.
