Oh I love this series. I saw a woman shielding her eyes at the beach I think and then started seeing women do it everywhere and it led to a summer of women sheilding their eye just looking. . This woman is a symbol to me of my ancestors although that is a big word, I can’t think of a lighter one. My people! I grew up in the Mississippi Delta area in Louisiana or more accurately my Mothers family did. We drove to her childhood home, Winnsboro, LA, through the Atchafalaya Swamp on a road built up to keep it from floods. But the vastness of that land, to me, as a child, resonated. In flood times its was a strip and water. but also would be green and lush in farm times. It could be anywhere though. The great plains. Siberia. That escalated quickly. (child of the cold war? Yes. ) But my point is women I guess. Shielding themselves from the bright sun but also loving being in it. I love this piece. looks close to see a water tower and a tower with a red light on the top.
