48 x 48
Oil on Canvas
Maple Shadow Frame
This painting was inspired by a trip snorkeling on Spring Break. I was hovering with the snorkel out of the water and looked around at all the other people around me and with their colorful suits and the fish and water reflecting and it stuck with me. In fact, had I been able to freeze time I might still be hovering there in the warm Caribbean sea! Alas, I painted this from the memory of that visit to a more beautiful place. It captures that feeling for me of being in the water surrounded but alone, but safe. I Love the people and the way they are just bobbing along, just happy and content. And why not? They are in the Caribbean forever.
PS. The painting above the couch should ideally be hanging higher. I remember this day, clearly. When I dropped my nail for the 48th time and would have had to go find another one I simply declared it Miller Time. It was way after 5, don't worry. But it never was hung higher. Sorry.
