I started this painting in the summer and finished it literally last week. It is a scene I have painted many time, with sunflowers always being a nice thing we plant in the summer. The laundry lady is an ongoingfigure of the woman who has been in my work in hundreds of paintings, since around 2003.

Her beginnings are not all that clear to me, but she holds a place in a scene when I need her and does it pretty regularly. She is a striking contrast with her white apron and black dress and she is lovely when she can pop into a scene of so much green. I try not to overthink her because I love painting her so much one she just provides such a nice flat graphic quality to any scene she walks into.
