These smaller works are an indulgence I will do when I am in the studio and feeling unnaturally calm. In those rare times, I just make up from what is stored in my head, let myself just draw whatever they are and they are usually these scenes of children (I have 3) and then they are in an ideal park setting of vibrant springtime and for some people yoga works to relax them but this is what I do for relaxing. They take on a life of their own and instead of having to worry about the painting, at this point I know what I am doing after all this time, It is as close to reading as painting gets for me. Narrative in that I just make up a story and then it plays out. From the earliest times I have ever created, this was something I did. More so when I was a little kid. I would get typing paper and a book for support and just draw and the drawings were just little by products of the stories I would be inventing. As I learned to paint I had to focus so much on HOW to get the image that I did not do that as much but now it is coming back. You can see this all over my paintings once you know.
