Black Shadow Frame

This piece is one of a series of snow ski paintings I began after a trip to Utah. The colors of the snow-filled mountaintops sent me on a long tear of artwork devoted to all that is great about winter. What I love in this series is the sense of cold with the warmth of the light coming through creating an unexpected warmth to the overall work and being able to push the values of white to create space. This painting is very bright white in many places with many values creating the space of the slopes.
