She is part of my fashion fun series. I love to paint plaid in gouache and do it often!

Gouache is a type of paint that is an opaque water color. It is the water based paint that is approached the most like oil paint in that your highlights are your final brush marks where in water color you leave the white of your paper as the highlights.

I have been painting in gouache for as long as I have with oils. They are less expensive because they are more fragile, and oil paintings take so much longer and are much more expensive to produce but the colors on gouache are astounding and they make an amazing statement.
