Maple Shadow Frame

There are a few paintings in this years group that are not technically the laundry series of figures because she is all in white, but I think it really is. Obviously. But these pieces were interested in the white on white and light on white that is shown throughout the series. I did them over a course of a few days this summer that culminated in the painting The Reader. Doing a subject over and over can help me get a real handle on what I am trying to do with the subject, essentially teaching myself what I am trying to get across in the painting. For her, it is just the light, the almost old fashioned clothing that always seems comforting to me and then her acceptance, with no sign of anything but serenity, of being alone.
