Pale Green Shadow Frame

This is the third painting I have done with a woman applying lipstick. I am not sure of the inspiration for this, but I love them. They are all just getting their lipstick on, but proudly and with their pink purses nearby. I paint the ideal and the books I read about the glamour of parties, watching nostalgia movies with red lights on small cocktail tables covered in white linen, sometimes makes me feel like I was born at the wrong time. It is hard to really define why a painting happens, but I think my love of the past, the glamour and capturing that moment helped make these come to light.
