This piece is one that I did with a series of others at the same time.  I used a good deal of underpainting showing through a fairly thick layer of paint. But this is not one of my thicker pieces, instead feeling softer and more fluid with less texture and layering than some. The very bright pink you see in this piece and in some other works of mine is not one that you can readily get with oil paint. To get this color and feeling, I paint with acrylic paint on white canvas instead of on a tinted background and it gives the colors a vividness that is just what you need peeking behind the neutrals on top. The dark line is always something I like to pull into my work that provides a contrast element. I feel that it works especially well in this painting.
