Upcoming Show April 4 - 29, Glave Kocen Gallery, Richmond, VA

I will have more than 80 new works at the show, from very small to very large. I hope you will come by and see the new work. There will also be a Painting Demonstration and Art Talk on Thursday, April 10 from 6 p.m. until around 8 p.m. I will be doing a still life demo to show my approach to working and will also talk a bit about the show. A question and answer session will follow.

For those who do not realize it, Jennifer Glave Kocen and BJ Kocen were the previous directors of the Rentz Gallery, also in Richmond. Once Robert Rentz decided that he needed to utilize the downstairs space for his interior design business they relocated about three doors down and their new space is every bit as beautiful -- see www.glavekocengallery.com. Also check out their article in this month's Art Collector magazine and look for my apple painting!

San Miguel de Allende

I taught an oil painting immersion workshop in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, February 3-10, 2008. San Miguel is an amazing gem of a town in the center of Mexico. I was totally blown away by this place and it is showing in my work. The light is more crisp than any other place I have visited. Similar to an Italian Hill Town (but with brighter colors) it is a chance to paint in suroundings of unparralled in beauty where locals accept and appreciate artists. Check out some links to read more about San Miguel de Allende:

We will try to return next year because it is so incredibly inspiring!

BH&G Decorating Magazine

Check out my paintings hanging in the ultra hip home of Kat and Mike Leibschwager in this winter edition of Better Homes and Gardens special Decorating Magazine (available at Barnes and Noble). Kat and Mike own Ruth and Ollie's funky retail store at Libbie and Grove in Richmond. They have many of my pieces and they are prominently displayed in the magazine where they look pretty nice in Kat and Mike's house. They also have a few paintings at Ruth and Ollie for you to look at as well. [ www.ruthandollie.com ]

Lemon Cabana

If you are in Virginia Beach, stick your head into the Lemon Cabana, owned by former Richmonder Julie Fancher. Another happening retail space that is focusing on original works, furniture, art and anything else that strikes Julie's fancy and is also carrying some of my paintings. Richmond Magazine

Keep an eye out for an article about me in the April issue of Richmond Magazine. Harry Kollatz is the author and I look forward to seeing what he thinks of me!

Featured in Studio Visit

I will be featured in the upcoming Studio Visit book that should hit your local Barnes and Noble around the middle of April. It will be in the art magazine section.

VMFA Class

I am teaching at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Studio School, but only one class now. I have dropped my night class until my kids get a little older but for now I will keep teaching on Wednesday mornings from 9:30 - 12:30. I don't do private lessons at this point.

Nimrod Summer Arts Program

Nimrod Summer Arts Program is all full for this year but the wait list is not terribly long. If you are interested in going then shoot me an email and I can add you to the list.
