Oil on Canvas
Maple Shadow Frame
My true abstracts are not abstracted recognizable objects but derived from color, shape form and line. It is harder than it looks to simply create an appealing painting from nothing but elements with no guidance from anything but instinct. Another angle of my work that is harder to see online is that I use the paint as almost a molding tool in many cases, so the paint handling (the technical term) is also an element in the work. Being a colorist at heart, the main drive for these works are color on color creating something pleasing to my eye. This painting can be hung in any direction you prefer.
