This piece is one that I love of two of the kitchen staff at Nimrod at their table that is bathed in sunlight. When I took the picture, they were both vocally annoyed with me, but the end result is a painting that I think may be one of my strongest ever (I think them being annoyed spurred me on to be honest). The bulk of my work at this point is heading to straight abstraction and even this piece is highly minimized and abstracted with basic form recognizable but not overworked. The difference between abstract and representational is becoming less and less important to me and this painting is a big leap in the direction of embracing both.
